We provide substance use treatment designed to stop the hurt, provide help
through community, and give hope for a life in recovery.

Stop Hurting.

When substances are used excessively or incorrectly,
it hurts our health, relationships and community.

We treat any problematic substance use:

Loved ones

Is your loved one hurting themself or you because of alcohol, marijuana or other substance use?

People we love who struggle with use of drugs or alcohol can hurt us in many ways. Oftentimes, they don't admit there’s a problem or may not agree to receive help. Changing their relationship with the substance is difficult without help, and openness to treatment must come from them. While you cannot force your loved one to accept help, there are two key things you can do right away to find hope:

Take care of yourself. Dealing with a loved one’s problematic substance use is draining. Taking care of yourself and your family is the best way you can be resilient and maintain hope in your own life. Prioritizing social connections, moving your body in healthy ways, maintaining your routines, eating nourishing foods, and getting good sleep are great ways to take care of yourself. Maniilaq has counseling services available for anyone seeking help with difficult circumstances in their lives, available through the contact information listed below.

Our Approach

Along with support groups, Maniilaq Association Counseling and Recovery Services use scientifically proven, evidenced-based treatment methods to stop the hurt caused by alcohol, marijuana and other drugs, and to prevent relapse.

Our team treats each person as an individual—we don’t just treat addiction. We work toward overall well-being, which includes physical, spiritual and emotional health. Ultimately, we want to help each person resume their family, job and community obligations, rather than be controlled by use of alcohol, marijuana or other drugs.

“Life in recovery is not easy but it becomes easier with help, support and community effort. Reach out to someone in your community for help like a Behavioral Health Aide, CHAP, or pastor.”

"Life in recovery can be the beginning of living out the best part of your life. Seeking help for a substance abuse problem is an incredible act of courage. You can do this."
– Joel Vickery, Itinerant Therapist

"Too often in life we try to convince ourselves that we don’t have a problem. We ignore the obvious signs that the way we are currently living is not working for us. The first step is to be honest with yourself about the struggles you face. Once you have identified the problem, it becomes easier to address. Don’t be afraid to reach out to others for help – family, friends, community resources. You come to find that many share the same struggles, and that you are not alone. We are here to help."
– Kyle Kennedy, Itinerant Therapist

Master of Science in Clinical Counseling Psychology

"Please take it a day at a time and try your hardest to surround yourself with people that support your goals and life in recovery. Set small, attainable goals. Our program looks for progress not perfection."

    Testimonials
"If I didn’t quit drinking, I would either be dead or in jail, still homeless. I purchased my own home, which I never thought was possible, and have given my children the life they deserve. Everything I thought was impossible was made possible."

    – Michelle Kubalack

"Being in recovery, It feels like I am walking upstream with a strong current. That strong current is constantly pushing me back but I must keep moving forward, every now and then I’m able to rest on a rock and catch my breath. That rock is myself in recovery. Giving me hope that it gets easier. But in life we must keep moving forward no matter how hard it may get."

    – Brian Jones

"By admitting and accepting we have an alcohol or drug problem, and by being honest and open with ourselves and others who are there to help us, we can become ready to change our lives day by day. If it doesn’t work out the first time, do it again. Keep trying and give yourself patience every day."
