Thank you, Paul.
Paul Hansen, Maniilaq Health Center (MHC) Administrator, is retiring from the Maniilaq Association after 39 years of continuous service. Mr. Hansen’s last day will be July 12, 2019. The Maniilaq Board of Directors recognized Paul’s years of service, commitment, and long list of accomplishments during their regular May board meeting.
Paul came to Kotzebue as a Commission Corp Officer in 1980 and served in various capacities throughout his nearly 40-year career at Maniilaq. Paul’s responsibilities have ranged from vaccinating dogs in his initial role as Sanitarian, to helping negotiate Maniilaq’s first compact with the Indian Health Service as a Self-Governance Coordinator. Paul has witnessed or has been an integral part of many significant changes and organization enhancements over the years including the construction of facilities (for example MHC and the Long Term Care Center).
“The growth of the organization and the expansion of programs and services has been exciting to be a part of in the past 39 years” said Hansen in addressing the Board of Directors. “It has been my honor and privilege to be a part of it all and serve the people our region” said Hansen.
Please join us in thanking Paul for his years of service and wishing him well as he ‘saunters off into the sunset’ (Paul’s words). We invite you to share any thoughts, stories and/or well-wishes that you’d like to share about and with Paul in the form below:
