The Nutrition department works closely several departments of the Maniilaq Association, including menu planning for the hospital cafeteria. Services are provided by a registered dietitian. Environmental ServicesEnvironmental technicians maintain the Maniilaq Health Center and all off-site facilities. In addition to the appearance of Maniilaq facilities, Environmental Services disinfects surfaces to adhere to Infection Control criteria for the protection of patients, visitors and staff against infection and disease. Infection ControlInfection Control strives to prevent the spread of infections from health care workers to clients, from clients to health care workers, and from health care workers to their families. All Maniilaq Health Center employees are trained in infection control at the start of their employment, and in annual training updates thereafter. This program also ensures that all Maniilaq Association employees are up-to-date with immunizations to protect both employees and patients. Nutrition ServicesUnder supervision of a dietician, Nutrition Services provides patients, staff, and visitors with three daily meals, as well as snacks and other nourishment to inpatients. Nutrition Services employs a five-week menu schedule to ensure a variety of choices and proper nutrition for patients and personnel.
